Hi, I am Anne, and all our frames here at Studio Martha Margarete are handmade by me. We are a family business with a tiny studio and workshop in our beloved home. All frames are made from recycled materials. My love for timber, paper and photographs brought Studio Martha Margarete to life. I am inspired by how nature can share its beauty with us so effortlessly. If you are present, then nature can teach you so much, connect to your mind and body. A visit to the rockpool inspires me, a walk through the bush does. My frames reflect how beautiful and raw nature is while holding something stunning. We better look after it.

It did not feel right, to create something and take more trees for it. Yet, I love natural materials and try to avoid plastic. So I figured out a way to reuse it. Timber can be recycled so well. Under every well-weathered layer hide the most stunning colours. Driftwood, old chairs, off-cuts, pallets and other treasures can be used. Our backing boards are 100% recycled European Kappa Board and the glass for our frames I source from old, unwanted frames.
With Studio Martha Margarete I would love to inspire you to live a little lighter. There is always a more sustainable way, we can reuse, repurpose, rethink. Our frames are made with a lot of passion, a ton of love and are kind to the planet.
